The Year in Review (Live Performances)

I was looking back at last year. See below for more photos. I performed at 28 live performances in all. Nineteen of them were at various (6) different open mics in Toronto. Mainly two, Riverboat Monday at Noonan’s captained by Tyler Ellis, and sometime accompanied by Howard Rabkin and/or Mark Thackaway, and Dr. B’s Acoustic Medicine Show at Free Times Cafe, run by Brian Gladstone, sometimes accompanied by Brian Morgan and Harpin’ Norm Music, but also including 3Ring Circus at the Tranzac Club, organized by Bob Cohen-guitar, David Woodhead-bass, Doug Wilde-keyboard, Liz Acker-piano, Ambrose Pottie-drums, The Tranzac Club on Monday nights, organized by Sarah Greene, The Rose and Crown, with Jessica Stewart, and Whiskey and Strings, an online streaming event on Facebook organized by Martina Maggiacomo.

Of the 29 live performances, that I did last year, nine of them were at organized, advertised, and scheduled events. Starting off with B’Arlopalooza, at the Black Swan Tavern in memory of Arlo, organized by Michael Bar, then the Winterfolk Blues & Roots Festival, at the Tranzac Club organized by Brian Gladstone. I had two appearances there, one was the Best of Dr. B’s with Roger Zuraw, Jaimee Jakobczak, Danny Wilson, Bill Isen, Mike Weidman, Tim Cranford, and Mark Yan. The other was Songs that Tell a Story with Melanie Peterson, Tony Quarrington, and @Zoe Adams. Coming next was an interesting groups of events starting with my first Kensington Unplugged songwriters circle at the Supermarket, organized by Angelina MacKinnon, onstage with Morgan Dunbar, Nude Not Naked and Conor Lynch, then an intimate songwriters circle Tranzac in the Round, with just Philip Vonesh and Angelina MacKinnon and me. I was fortunate to play again, my fourth, at the Open Tuning A Free Music Festival, in Seaton Village at the Karma Coop, organized by Chris McNeil. In the fall, I played at Indie Tuesdays at theIndie Tuesdays at The Linsmore Tavern, organized my Mary-Elizabeth Gilbert. I had played there once last year, for the first time. Later, I also appeared at the Whitevale Porchfest, an intriguing festival in an extremely intriguing location, like something out of a fable. It was my first time there. The year finished off with another appearance at Kensington Unplugged, with Angelina MacKinnon, Aaron Claudius and Bailey Jordan Neil. It was his birthday. I look forward to doing more in the coming year. Let me know what you think. Where would you like to see me perform? Send a message.

And another thing, I was invited to be a part of two podcasts last year, at the beginning, February 10, was Brian Tremblay and his Lonesome Cowboy interviewed me https://thelonesomecowboypodcast.substack.com/…/dougal… nearer to the end, on December 27, was Josh Bastard and his Underrated Folk Musicians podcast, on Instagram. No interview, but he made some good comments https://www.instagram.com/p/DSyDu-OEvVY/
