How DO you get to Koerner Hall?
How do you get to Koerner Hall? There are a number of ways, of course. Serendipity is one. Practice always helps, as they say. The Corner of St George and Bloor, right between the ROM and Varsity Stadium will get you there.
I applied for the Koerner Hall Free for All, in a “what the hell” moment, and was, fortunately, selected to play on that aesthetically and acoustically beautiful stage.
It was all part of Nuit Blanche, Culture Days, on Saturday, September 29, from 2 to 8 pm. There was six hours of 5 minute performances, 72 by my count, acoustic from 2 to 5 and amplified from 5 to 8 pm.
My five minutes of fame was from 5:20 to 5:25, right after Maggie and Mr Rogers and before billyzee. Admission was FREE! Free for All. There was all kinds of music, from the young girl playing Malaguena on the guitar and singing, to the Tatgalog Rock band the the two free improvisers, Bill McBirnie and Bill Gilliam.
